Upgrade list for CDS Standard
- 4/4/03
Points alter has been extended to include a set offset. This means for example
that you could select all the points on road 1 with an offset between -.1 and
.1 You can then use point alter to set these offsets to 0.000
- 4/4/03
cut and fill area's and volumes has been improved. If you are displaying two
natural road sections the program will report on each cut and fill area. Right
clicking and selecting "show area's" menu item will create a report
showing cut and fill areas and points making up each area. A volume will also
be displayed using end area rule between the sections both before and after
this chainage. You first need to set the natural volume parameters which sets
the base and overlay road numbers.
- 4/4/03
For natural volumes can also display the net area and progressive volume in
the long section plot and dwg file.
- 2/4/03
in road sections the continue last grade has gone missing from the
"offset & grade" command. If you add in a grade greater than
99999 it now works.
- 2/4/03
New tutorial on web site showing how to use above command for simple road
widening.
- 22/4/03
program slowed down when there was deleted points in the database. This has
been sped up
- 22/4/03
when interpolating sections and profiles the intersection of string lines was
not always leading to predictable results
- 22/4/03
added in a new natural road reference type. If interpolate a string profile
without sections it now defines a "profile" type automatically
- 1/4/03
transform, translate and rotate - have added in a report key as a check for
the new calculated coordinates. The OK button has had a are you sure message
box added in.
- 18/2/03
land grading - combined grade was being reported incorrectly
- 18/2/03
cross section plotting - have added in a tick box in parameters so that
interpolated natural surface heights can be shown at design heights if needed
- 28/1/03
bug showing up when writing one of CDS files. Look for jobid.des ; failing
over a network - the share option was not being set leading to unpredictable
results
- 21/1/03
added in ability to color triangles via there max slope. Select this option
from the contour menu - parameters and then the color tab
- 21/1/03
when exporting road data to roadpc centre line points that were not part of a
section were resulting in incorrect distances between sections
- 21/1/03
cogo - curve calculator. A loss of significant figures could lead to
inaccuracies when calculating curves of less than about a meter radius; now
fixed.
- 17/1/03
added in facility to create cross sections to an RTA standard. ie in section
bottom box is natural offsets only, next box is natural heights, next box is
design offsets and top box is design heights. The vertical drop lines are only
from the design points. To implement specify a cross section type 13. In
format dialog notice the two new entry types of offset (nat) and offset (dsn).
Change the default 0 box from offset to offset (nat). Next is reference. Next
is offset (dsn) and top is dsn.
- 17/1/03
random land grading - in the reports we are now displaying the bearings of the
calculated grades to avoid confusion. Added a import/export volume box to
random case. More still being done.
- 13/1/03
modified database - after closing program down the memory image of database
was not always being deleted; with confusing results. ie you could copy in an
updated copy of the database but the program would continue using the memory
image and then overwrite the file that was just copied in.
- 13/1/03
land grading - bearing of axes shown on reports
- 13/1/03
the axes for grade reports now default to the axes specified in the set up
grid
- 13/1/03
land grading random - you can now specify an import / export value when
calculating the plane of best fit
- 18/12/02
land grading grids were slightly out - only if specified in minutes and
seconds
- 17/12/02
When interpolating profiles and sections you now have the option of creating
points where each section intersects an existing string line.
- 17/12/02
When creating templates in cross-sections you now have the option of joining
to a design line.
- 17/12/02
If you have a discon with a null height; that particular segment is ignored. I
would suggest however that you may be advised to spend some more time checking
your break-line data.
- 10/12/02
displaying offset by layer was not working.
- 3/12/02
an alternative method of doing superelevation has been added in. A table is
filled in with the grades and widening at appropriate chainages. Variable
width template tables may be created and sections displayed easily. You can
also print out the width's and grades at arbitrary chainages. See the new
tutorial in tutorial section of the web site.
- 30/10/02
strings listing has been expanded; 2 new options. You can also get the height
as well as coords. Another new function only shows points and coordinates,
height and codes.
- 28/10/02
added a new function which will convert any zero height contours into strings.
Find under contour menu and contour utilities. This would be typically used
after calculating some isopacs. The zero isopacs can then be converted to a
string. At present the point numbers used start at the next available and
string folder is fixed.
- 25/10/02
land grading has been further refined. Random grading now done as a tabbed
dialog which includes grid options. Further work on the bounding strings when
doing random point grading.
- 25/10/02
GPS pickup has been improved. Space bar halts and restarts pickup. Plus key
lets you add in single points. Local grid correction now remembered between
instances of the program. ie you can come back the next day and still pick up
new points on the same coordinate grid.
- 8/10/02
feature coding was creating duplicate strings when rerunning a number of
times.
- 8/10/02
changing screen text size was being lost when re-opened job
- 8/10/02
point monitoring - bearing displayed had lost the plot
- 17/09/02
the grade edit box in Cogo - Bear & Distance and radiate now accepts the P
command. This will calculate the grade between two points if that is what you
need. Also if you enter an angle (0 degrees at horizontal only at present) in
the format ha10.1245 ie angle 10 degrees 12 minutes and 45 seconds
with ha in front it will internally convert this to a grade for you and apply
it.
- 23/08/02
Chainage & Offset Calcs - a feature that has been lost since the DOS
version has been added back in. You can now do these calcs by specifying a
point and a bearing.
- Version 1.06 released.
- 15/08/02 Join - a new feature has been added to calculate angles from 3
points.
- 07/08/02 Backup/Restore Dialog box has been
redesigned to make its use more logical. When restoring jobs, the unarchive
check box has disappeared and the program just looks to see if you have
selected a .cab file to know whether to unarchive it and the Source
directory is saved away to be used as the default next time you run restore.
When backing up jobs the destination directory is saved away to be used as
the default next time.
- 30/07/02 Roadworks buttons on toolbar have been
rearranged to match those in CdsPremium.
- 25/07/02 More buttons have been added to the
toolbar for Form Triangles, Calculate Contours, Interpolate Profiles &
Sections, Volumes between surfaces, and Edit Triangles - Select Tris by
Intersecting Line
- 19/07/02 After you Store Points to the Database
from Stadia/Level/Traverse sheets the program will automatically do a zoom
extents.
- 19/07/02 After you do a File-Import the program
will automatically do a zoom extents.
- 19/07/02 Buttons have been added to the toolbar
for Join, and some of the Cogo Routines - Bear & Dist, Angle & Dist,
Radiate, 2 Bearing Int, 2 Distance Int and Bearing & Distance Int.
- 18/07/02 Import Raw Data interface has had a total
revamp and can automatically bring up the stadia/level/traverse table for
you at the end of the process.
- 18/07/02 Any formats that were in CDS2000 but not in CDS
for Import, Raw Import and Raw Export have now been added to CDS versions
too.
- 21/06/02 Import Raw Data - the following formats
have been added:- Leica TPS1100, Leica IDEX, Geodat : Generic(with activity
codes), Civilcad Neutral, CandG, TDS Raw File (.rw5). Contact us if you need
this update.
- 21/06/02 File-Import -the following have been
added:- TDS Coordinate File and Geologic CSV File. Contact us if you need
this update.
- 06/06/02 Profile interpolation could get confused if
the start chainage of the profile was different to the chainage on the first
point in the defining string.
- 03/06/02 Level book routine. Can now export level book in
Excell CSV format. Do a file save and type in a name which is a CSV file. eg
test.csv
- 29/05/02 Minimum string area was not working if angles of string were
exactly 90 degrees and doing the slide line option.
- 16/05/02 Query dialog when updating points was rounding coordinates to the
nearest millimeter. This was a concern when transforming grids between
coordinates systems when displaying bearings etc. ; even though the accuracy
of the survey has not changed.
- 13/05/02 Grid volumes in Land Grading were incorrect if major and minor
axes were not along the cardinal axes.
- 02/05/02 Import Raw Data - Civilcad Neutral Files has been added to provide
another method to users of Leica TPS1100 Series instruments of getting their
raw data into stadia. Leica has a utility that converts .gsi files into .neu files.
Sample Data and/or Civilcad Neutral Format Spec's would be appreciated for further testing.
- 01/05/02 gridded land grading option now has facility to use an
optional bounding string when calculating grades and displaying
reports.
- 29/04/02 When applying a code library we know have the option of only
running it on selected points if appropriate. Other wise it runs as always
on every point in the database.
- 29/04/02 If we performed the closed string option on a previously closed
string the end point was repeated; now works correctly.
- 23/04/02 When calculating volumes between 2 surfaces we now have the
option of specifying a bounding string. The volume that lies with the closed
string is reported.
- 18/04/02 Export Leica IDEX File - General Improvements have been made.
- 9/4/02 Have added in two columns to point parameters and string parameters
for plotting. This is to set text size going to dwg/dxf file in world
coordinates. ie set 3.5 in there it will turn up in Autocad at a size
of 3.5 in world coordinates; in either meters or feet depending on what you
are using.
- 8/4/02 When importing a dwg file; now
handles imbedded blocks correctly
- 8/4/02 Road works cross section volumes can
now display and report volumes that are defined by the template. For example
if you wanted to calculate the bitumen volume as distinct from the amount of
dirt in cut and fill. Watch for a tutorial coming shortly.
- 20/3/02 General improvement in pad design.
Indication that something is happening has been added. Rare points were
calculated with incorrect batter. External angles of less than 180 now only
have 1 point interpolated rather than 3 which caused string to come back on
itself. Grid will work on a combined surface to allow overlapping pads.
- 20/3/02 added in ability to delete
triangles by intersecting polyline.
- 7/3/02 Added in ability to define a
background color. Access from first option menu (ie before opening a job; if
job is open do file then close first
- 28/2/02 Now remembers plot parameters; use
the "Save Defs" key to store away default. Use "Load
Def" button to set the values at any time in any job.
- 20/2/02 Grid when displaying a profile was
not showing properly. Added in some edit box's to control the color and line
type of the grid lines
- 20/2/02 Some slight rounding problems in
plotting profiles was showing up as lines etc not quite touching
- 15/02/02 New Cogo Function - Angle & Distance
- 12/2/02 VRML 3D output has been upgraded to
97 standard. More coming soon in CDS Premium version
- 12/2/02 Have added in user control over the
distance to step (if points are too close together) for both long and cross
section plotting.
- 24/1/02 When running code library was using
deleted points if any as well.
- 11/12/01 When creating dwg/dxf files the
height was being set on points even though we did not have the 3D box
ticked.
- 11/12/01 A grid based land grading system
has been implemented. Access it off the contour menu.
- 11/12/01 Can now triangulate and contour by
height difference. Ie points used need both a design height as well as a
natural height
- 11/12/01 Added in ability to plot out
height difference as well as eastings and northings of a point.
- 11/12/01 Traverse program has had some
improvements with angular misclose stuff.
- 11/12/01 Instantanous height display is
activated automatically once triangles have been created. Also a number of
triangle height related activities should be much faster. Most of this is
background stuff so users may not be aware of any differences. Main
difference will show up on large jobs.
- 26/10/01 Cut and fill values were not
being displayed.
- 16/10/01 When zooming in and plotting long
strings the program could hang. Appears to be a documented bug in windows3.1
Later versions of windows also appear to have the bug but it is no longer
documented. The string is simply not displayed if there is a problem.
- 8/10/01 When plotting the default color
black to Autocad ; it now goes across as pen7. This shows as white on black
background or black on a white background. Before it was coming over as a
light grey.
- 25/9/01 CDS now remembers its own printer.
This allows you for example to have your default system printer for
documents while printing in CDS for example on an A1 plotter.
- 25/9/01 colors of points and text was being
lost when exporting to a dwg file
- 25/9/01 when importing arcs from Autocad
the program was repeating itself when reading an arc. Appeared that the
program stopped.
Upgrades to CDS1.04
- 19/7/01 Miscellanous improvements to
the digitizing. Improved some of messages. Inserting single variable (eg
height) program now gives this entry the focus in data input and finish's on
entry key.
- 5/7/01 reading in dwg/dxf block scale
was not being applied.
- 12/6/01 long section plotting to dwg/dxf.
Chainages and RL's etc had leading blanks in them. It stopped them lining up
with the boxing.
- 22/5/01 long section plotting. Added
in dialog elements to control text height etc of datum text.
- 22/5/01 long section plotting export. First
point in natural surface was displayed slightly out
- 22/5/01 long section plotting. Data
box at bottom now takes stepping into account when being drawn.
- 22/5/01 long section plotting. Last point
was getting dropped if you used the default last chainage
- 8/5/01 long section plotting. Chainage text
font and size was being ignored
- 8/5/01 long section plotting. Default for
station equations (a US format) now defaults to disabled

files was failing if an invalid line type was specified
- 3/4/01 Split strings. Fixed a couple of
errors and also allow the snapping of points from the screen.
- 27/3/01 Leica idex export was missing
project name.
- 23/3/01 Some entries when using feet and
inchs with fractions not working
- 22/3/01 SDR raw input has been
changed. Apparently new set 100 does not have backsite shot. The first
normal shot after stn shot is assumed to be an AT/BS shot.
- 20/3/01 minimum string area - parallel line
option was failing if it was a parallelogram
- 7/3/01 translate points routine was leaving
a number of commands greyed out
- 7/3/01 Cogo bearing and distance table -
now has the option of turning on or off grades.
- 7/3/01 In stadia entry options. There is a
routine to partly replace codes with other codes; from a table definition.
This is useful when getting info from total stations etc that only have
numerical codes.
- 5/3/01 added in a new Cogo routine.
Bearing and distance with a table. Find under Cogo routines 3rd entry down.
If for example you are
entering a traverse and make a mistake. You only need to fix the appropriate
line in the table. You don't
have to re-enter everything.
- 1/3/01 added in the ability to export in a
dwg True type fonts. At moment only arial, courier new, new times roman,
Arial Black aond Isocp come across. Users can add their own fonts into the
acadoptions.dwg file in variable directory
- 15/2/01 When importing dwg/dxf you
know have the option of importing strings with a constant height as
contours. Tick the create contours box on the import dwg dialog. The ability
to interpolate profiles and get volumes from said contours will be coming!
- 15/2/01 When forming combined surfaces;
sometimes design points that should have been in the surface where not used.
- 7/1/01 Added in an option to write
triangles to a file in TP Setout format. Find under File - Export and then

patch since 4/11/00 and you get the message;"...INITIALIZATION:
THUNK_LIB_NOT_FOUND... Demonstration Mode Only", this patch will fix
it.
- 22/11/00 Import - if you have downloaded
some of these patches from the web and you now find that Import does not
work correctly, then download this latest patch which also includes an
update of the import function.
- 14/11/00 some of bearing calc's in Cogo
were slightly out. (This bug was only introduced in the 4/11/00 patch)
